NDLEA arrests Lekki businessman, dismantles drug networks nationwide

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Arokodare Damil Ebenezer, a 43-year-old businessman based in Lekki, Lagos, in connection with illicit drug shipments.
According to an NDLEA press statement released on Sunday, Ebenezer, proprietor of Damillionz Takeout, was apprehended on March 24, 2025, at Bay Lounge on Admiralty Way while awaiting a shipment of 60 parcels of “Loud,” a potent strain of cannabis imported from the United States.
The arrest followed an earlier seizure of the cargo, which arrived in Nigeria on March 12 in seven large cartons at a logistics company in Lagos. A subsequent search of his Lekki residence led to the discovery of an additional 94 grams of cannabis and various drug paraphernalia, bringing the total drug seizure to 32.24 kilograms. During interrogation, Ebenezer admitted to being involved in drug trafficking since 2017.
In a related operation, NDLEA operatives intercepted Omoruyi Terry, a businessman attempting to smuggle 1,400 tramadol pills to Italy via Qatar Airways at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. Investigations identified him as a frequent traveler and logistics agent based in Italy.
Further NDLEA operations in Katsina led to the arrest of four suspects and the seizure of 684 blocks of compressed skunk weighing 423 kilograms and 86,000 diazepam pills. The suspects were found repackaging the drugs, while a female suspect was apprehended at her residence with skunk.
In Edo State, NDLEA operatives eradicated 13,198 kilograms of cannabis sativa in various forests between March 24 and 28, dismantling four cannabis plantations. Additionally, in Niger State, officers intercepted a vehicle carrying 179 blocks of skunk weighing 77.6 kilograms.
Operations extended to Enugu and Kwara States, where significant quantities of skunk were recovered, and multiple suspects arrested. The NDLEA continues to engage in sensitization programs across schools, communities, and workplaces to curb drug abuse.
NDLEA Chairman/CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) commended personnel for their operational successes and emphasized the agency’s commitment to tackling drug supply and demand. He extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings to stakeholders, urging continued dedication to a drug-free society.
