Ndume credits Tinubu, Zulum, Remi for return to Senate race

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu with helping to secure his return to the Senate race ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, stated this on Tuesday when he hosted members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) executive from Gwoza Local Government Area at his residence in Maiduguri. The executives visited to congratulate him following his emergence as the APC candidate for the 2027 Borno South senatorial election.

Ndume described his emergence as the will of Allah, saying that while people could make plans, ultimate authority over their destinies remained with God. He recalled that his name was initially omitted from the list submitted for consideration for the party’s senatorial tickets.

He said Tinubu insisted that his name be included, while Zulum and Oluremi Tinubu also supported his return to the race.

“Names were given to Mr President for the ticket positions of the APC amongst us senators, and my name was not there. Mr President insisted that they should return and include my name. Before we could even blink, Governor Zulum was also at the Villa, pushing for the inclusion of my name. So also was Senator Oluremi Tinubu,” Ndume said.

The senator expressed appreciation to the President, governor and First Lady, describing their intervention as genuine support that he would not take for granted. He also disclosed that he had continued to engage Tinubu on critical infrastructure projects, including the Biu-Gombe and Ngala-Dikwa roads.

Ndume urged the people of Borno and the North-East to reciprocate the support shown to the region by backing the APC and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 elections. He also charged the Gwoza APC executives to intensify grassroots mobilisation and assured them of his continued cooperation.

Earlier, the APC chairman in Gwoza, Hon. Ashigashiya, said the visit was to congratulate Ndume and reaffirm the local party leadership’s commitment to his candidacy and the success of the APC.
