New governors and executive recklessness, By Temitope Ajayi

In the current democratic dispensation, it has become a norm than an exception, watching new governors from a political party different from the person they took over from to cancel executive actions of their predecessors. This is in spite of repeated lower and higher court judgments nullifying such executive recklessness.
It is only in our clime that a man wins an election and start issuing orders to banks and agencies of government where a sitting governor still has four or more months to the end of his constitutionally-timed tenure.
The above scenario is the latest comedy currently playing out in Osun State where the new governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has cancelled all decisions taken by his predecessor from July 17th, 2022.
Our political elites must start acting like statesmen and women that take leadership and governance serious, rather than getting entangled in circus shows.
Does Governor Adeleke expect Oyetola to suspend government activities or abstain from exercising his executive authority from July 17 till yesterday, November 28 simply because the latter lost his re-election?
The new governor and whoever are his advisers should be told in clear and unmistakable terms that a governor is vested with the constitutional mandate to take executive decisions/actions till the last second of his tenure.
