The newly-appointed Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, has pledged her dedication to advancing the interests of Nigerians in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Walson-Jack made this commitment on Friday following a private meeting with President Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

“I see it as a divine assignment, and I had the opportunity to assure Mr. President that, by the grace of God, I will not disappoint him,” she stated.

Accompanied by her predecessor, Folashade Yemi-Esan, Walson-Jack emphasized her intention to collaborate closely with permanent secretaries, directors, and the entire civil service to deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Yemi-Esan, in her remarks, described the handover process as “seamless” and expressed confidence in the new civil service chief’s capabilities.

“The President has facilitated a seamless transition, which we greatly appreciate. The incoming Head of Service has spent weeks with me, learning the ropes, and I am confident she is now ready to assume her duties. We thank Mr. President for his support.

“We also had a productive discussion with Mr. President, sharing his vision for the country, particularly for the civil service, which should equip her to hit the ground running and achieve the goals set before her.

“The newly appointed Head of Service is capable, very intelligent, hardworking, professional, and empathetic. I have no doubt she will excel in her role,” Yemi-Esan added.

On July 17, President Tinubu approved Walson-Jack’s appointment as Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 14, 2024. The announcement was made by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement titled ‘President Tinubu Selects New Head of Civil Service of the Federation.’ Walson-Jack succeeds Yemi-Esan, who retires on August 13, 2024.

Walson-Jack, appointed as a Federal Permanent Secretary in 2017, has previously served in various ministries.

President Tinubu commended the outgoing Head of Service for her leadership and urged Walson-Jack to discharge her duties with “innovative flair, integrity, and strict adherence to the rules and regulations governing the Civil Service of the Federation.”
