New Head of Service Enitan pledges to rebuild trust in Federal Civil Service

The newly appointed Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Abel Enitan, has promised to overhaul the efficiency and professionalism of the Federal Civil Service while restoring public confidence in the institution.

Enitan spoke on Thursday shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administered the oath of office on him at the State House in Abuja.

He said his tenure would prioritise innovation, productivity, professionalism and responsiveness, with a focus on ensuring that government policies and programmes produce measurable benefits for Nigerians.

“My task is very simple, and it is just to make the Federal Civil Service more innovative, more productive and more professional, as well as to be more responsive to the yearnings of Nigerians,” he said.

According to him, the Civil Service must play its role effectively by converting government policies, programmes and projects into concrete results that improve citizens’ lives.

Enitan said he would strengthen existing reforms rather than pursue changes merely for the sake of introducing new initiatives.

“I am not going to reinvent the wheel. I will rather lubricate the wheel so that it can deliver efficiently and more productively so that I can fulfil the aspirations and expectations of Nigerians,” he said.

The new Head of Service also promised continuity in ongoing reforms, saying he would build on the work of his predecessor, Didi Esther Walson-Jack.

“We will make sure government policies are properly implemented, and we will continue from where my predecessor stopped so that we take the service to the next level and win back the trust and the hearts of Nigerians,” Enitan said.
