NEWS ANALYSIS: On OYSG’s “wait and see” policy, by Chris Adetayo

I read that Explainer by the Oyo State Govt on the N30B received from the FG. That was a car crash of a press statement. It was so self-indicting one is tempted to suspect sabotage.

You applied for N100B emergency support

President approved N50B

N30B was released. Awaiting N20B

You left the N30B in FirstBank while waiting for the N20B.

13 months and counting, you did nothing. You didn’t even inform the public or State Assembly.

In meantime, you spent N26B of your own money to fix the problems.

It’s illogical!

What the State should have said is simple – “we received N30B. We have spent N26B so far. We have N4B in account while we await the release of the balance of N20B”.

Instead, it is telling the people that it received N30B of the N50B approved and is awaiting the release of N20B before it decides what to do with the N30B released. It is even patting itself on the back for not touching the N30B.

What sort of thinking is that? How is that believable? When did “wait and see” become a State policy in the middle of so much want and need? Is this what passes for governance in our States?

Shameful! Embarrassing!
