NFF president confident Chelle will remain as Super Eagles coach

Amid speculation over his possible departure as Super Eagles coach, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has said Eric Sékou Chelle will remain in charge of the national team.
Following the exploits of the Eagles in recent games, particularly at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held recently in Morocco, Chelle has reportedly become a target for clubs and countries.
The former Malian national team handler has reportedly become sought after by notable clubs and countries in Europe and Africa.
However, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau said he is confident Chelle will remain as Super Eagles coach beyond his current contract.
The 48-year-old Chelle is halfway through a two-year contract amid interest from countries and clubs in his expertise.
“Eric Chelle still has a year left on his contract. He enjoys working with Nigeria, he believes in the Super Eagles and he believes he can achieve with this national team,” Gusau said.
“The key thing is that he has a great belief in the team and that he can achieve his dream with the team.”
