President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has warmly congratulated the newly appointed Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, expressing confidence that Dikko’s vast experience in football administration will ensure his success in the role.

Gusau highlighted Dikko’s extensive background as a marketing expert, Chairman of Nigeria’s elite league, an international match commissioner, Vice President of the NFF, and a member of FIFA and CAF committees. According to Gusau, this experience has adequately prepared Dikko for the responsibilities of the position.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, named Dikko—who served for nearly eight years as Chairman of the Nigeria Professional Football League (now Nigeria Premier Football League) and as Second Vice President of the NFF—as Chairman of the reintroduced National Sports Commission, replacing the Federal Ministry of Sports Development.

“On behalf of the NFF and the entire Nigerian football fraternity, I warmly congratulate Mallam Shehu Dikko on this important national assignment,” Gusau said. “I have no doubt that he possesses the knowledge, skill, experience, diligence, and intelligence to succeed in leading the National Sports Commission.

“We served together on the NFF board for close to eight years, and I can attest to his enterprise and resourcefulness. He is full of meaningful and positive ideas, and the NFF will certainly work with him to elevate Nigerian football to new heights of excellence.”

Dikko has also chaired various committees in the NFF, including marketing and sponsorship, and is a member of the CAF Inter-Clubs Committee. He remains a member of the FIFA Football Stakeholders Committee.
