A non-governmental organisation, Osun Country Club, has called on well-meaning Nigerians and institutions to support orphanage homes across Osun State.

The appeal was made on Monday during the donation of food items and cash gifts worth millions of naira to the Our Lady of Fatimah Orphanage Home in Osogbo, the state capital.

Speaking after the presentation, the President of Osun Country Club, Chief Abiola Falayajo, said the gesture was aimed at supporting caregivers and proprietors of orphanage homes, noting that government alone cannot meet all social welfare needs.

Falayajo explained that the visit marked the club’s maiden outreach programme, adding that the initiative would be sustained and extended to other orphanage homes across the state.

According to him, the club undertook the outreach to appreciate God and those caring for the less privileged, stressing that the programme would be held annually and rotated among different towns in Osun State.

He encouraged members of the public to emulate the gesture by supporting orphanage homes across the state, expressing optimism that the initiative would continue to touch more lives.

Also speaking, a member of the club, Hon. Sunday Akere, commended the management of the orphanage for its dedication to the care and upbringing of the children.

Speaking on behalf of the orphanage, Reverend Sister Elizabeth Akinlotan thanked the Osun Country Club for the support, describing it as timely and beneficial to the children.
