Niger APC demands resignation from political appointees seeking elective office

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State has directed all political appointees in the state seeking to vie for elective position to resign from office.

This was contained in a statement by the APC State Secretary, Khaleel Aliyu, which was made available to our correspondent.

The party said the directive is in line with the new electoral law signed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Pursuant to the decision of our great party (APC) to hold her National Convention on 25th March, 2022, and the assent or signing into law of the Electoral Act amendment Bill, 2022, we hereby direct all political appointees interested in contesting any elected position to tender their resignation letter this week.

“Similarly, all accredited state delegates are to resign from any political position they are presently occupying within the same period. This is a constitutional matter that must be respected by all party members in the state.

“We hereby advice all intended party members to comply with the constitutional provisions and party directive towards upholding the mission and vision of the party.

“We further urge all affected party faithful to submit their resignation letters to Office of Secretary to State Government and APC state Secretariat, Minna, Niger State,” the statement read.
