Niger, Nasarawa governors visit Tinubu, speak on Plateau attack

Governor Umar Bago of Niger state, and his counterpart governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state on Sunday both paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, speaking on issues surrounding the recent attack by armed men in Plateau state.
Governor Sule who addressed journalists after the meeting with President Tinubu stated that the President is very concerned about the security of the people.
He said, “Well, I came to see Mr. President for three reasons. Number one, being a leader is the end of year. I travelled out of the country. So since my colleagues came and I couldn’t come I used the opportunity to actually come see him and wish him well, and I wish him well for the new year that was coming.
“Secondly, as you know, I’m also the chairman of the North Central governors forum. So I told Mr. President a little bit about some of the things happening in our own zone, including issues in plateau. So it was an issue for our discussion.
“What we spoke about are very vital issues and what is of most concern to Nigerians is this issue of security.
“Mr President is very concerned about the security of the people, he is very concerned about what is happening on the plateau and what is happening in the northeast and everywhere else and especially in the North Central, you know, and these are issues of high concern.
Sule who is also the chairman of the North Central governors forum disclosed that he had come to inform the president about a certain assignment on the Lithium projects in Nasarawa state.
“He gave me an assignment on the Lithium projects in our state. So I used the opportunity to return the complete information about what he asked for, so really, those were the three issues of coming to see Mr. President.
According to media reports, No fewer than seventy six persons were killed by assailants in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi area of the state.
Westernpost reported how President Tinubu condemned what he describes as heinous and brutal attacks in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State, which resulted in the tragic loss of many lives.
Senators from the 19 northern states under the aegis of Northern Senators Forum have urged the Federal Government to identify, apprehend and punish those behind the recent Killings in Jos, Plateau State.
On his part, Bago described the crises in Plateau as “quite unfortunate.” he said he hope such situation doesn’t occur again.
“Yeah, it’s quite unfortunate, you know. Niger, state and other states in north central have also been victims of this kind of carnage.
“But happened in Plateau is very unfortunate. And we are hoping that it does not repeat itself. We have just decided on Tuesday, we’ll go and pay a condolence visit to commiserate with the people of Plateau staye on this issue. Other issues are not issues for camera. There are strategic issues that we must discuss on them.
“But the most important is that we need to start discussion. When we start talking to each other as a people you know, we need to discuss so we need to bring out people, voices to be heard. You know, a lot of these issues are just centric.
