Nigeria can be AFCON champions again – Yobo

Former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, believes the three-time African champions can win their fourth AFCON title in Morocco.
According to Yobo, having finished second in the last edition, Nigeria should aim to go one step further by claiming the 2025 AFCON trophy.
The Super Eagles are drawn in Group C of the next tournament, alongside Tunisia and East African teams Tanzania and Uganda.
Following Monday night’s draw in Rabat, Yobo expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will advance beyond the group stage on their way to securing a fourth AFCON crown.
“We have a very good team, and the players have been improving, as they showed at the last AFCON,” said the former Everton defender.
“It is never easy, but getting out of the group stage has not been a problem for us. It is important to start well and build momentum.
“It is about time we go one step further and get our hands on the trophy again,” added Yobo, who captained the Super Eagles to victory at the 2013 AFCON under the late Stephen Keshi’s guidance.
