The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed heartfelt sympathy to the Government and people of Vietnam following the devastation caused by Typhoon Kajiki. The storm triggered a landslide in central Vietnam, leaving at least three dead and 13 others injured.

Nearly 7,000 homes were reported damaged, with widespread flooding and power outages affecting several central and northern provinces, including the capital, Hanoi.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended Vietnamese authorities for their swift emergency response, including evacuations and relief efforts. Nigeria also expressed confidence in the resilience of the Vietnamese people to recover and rebuild.

“Nigeria extends its deepest condolences and solidarity to the Government and people of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, especially to the families who have lost loved ones and those whose homes and livelihoods have been destroyed,” the statement, signed by ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, read.
