The Federal Government of Nigeria has categorically denied allegations by Nigerien authorities that Nigerian security forces, in collaboration with foreign entities, were involved in the December 13 attack on the Niger-Benin oil pipeline in Gaya, Dosso Region of Niger Republic.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the claims as baseless and unfounded.
“The Government of Nigeria condoles with the Government of Niger over the unfortunate attack on the oil pipeline but categorically states that the perpetrators were neither backed nor assisted by Nigerian authorities,” the statement read.

“Nigeria remains firmly committed to the fight against terrorism and will not condone or support the activities of terrorist groups.”
The ministry also rejected claims of French military involvement in northern Nigeria allegedly aimed at destabilizing Niger’s government.
“These allegations are untrue and should be discarded entirely. Nigeria values its cordial relationship with France, which is based on mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs,” the statement added.
Reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to peaceful and cooperative relations with Niger, the government emphasized its dedication to fostering stability and prosperity for the citizens of both nations.
