Nigeria drops in latest FIFA ranking

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have experienced a significant drop in the latest FIFA rankings, sliding eight places to 44th globally.

This decline is attributed to the team’s lackluster performance in the final round of the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers. A 1-1 draw against Benin in Abidjan and a disappointing 1-2 loss to Rwanda in Uyo prevented Nigeria from securing maximum points, culminating in their fall in the global standings.

The slip in rankings also sees Nigeria drop from fourth to fifth place in Africa, marking a setback in their continental standing.
