Nigeria drops in latest FIFA rankings
Nigeria took a dive down the ladder as the world’s football governing body released its September rankings.
According to the rankings, the three-time African champions slipped to the 45th position.
Nigeria garnered 1,483 points in the month under review, compared to the 1,484 points it had in the last ranking in July.
During the period under review, the Super Eagles drew one match, won two, and lost two.
At the continental level, Nigeria is placed 6th, behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Côte d’Ivoire respectively.
On the global scene, Spain dethroned Argentina, who had occupied the top position since April 2023, to become world leaders for the first time since 2014.
The biggest climber was Slovakia, rising 10 spots to become 42nd.
