The Davis Cup, organized by the International Tennis Federation, is the premier international team competition in men’s tennis and is widely regarded for its emphasis on national pride and team spirit. Ties typically feature singles and doubles matches played in a home-and-away format.
Nigeria has a long history in the Davis Cup, having competed in the Africa Zone since the early decades of the competition. The event has served as a platform for showcasing Nigerian talent, boosting domestic tennis development, and providing players with valuable international exposure.
Hosting the playoffs is another reflection of the National Sports Commission’s continued focus on repositioning Nigeria as a global destination for sports and specifically advancing the country’s standing in international tennis.
