Nigeria, Poland explore partnership in digital economy, defence

Vice President Kashim Shettima has said Nigeria is ready to deepen strategic ties with the Republic of Poland in key sectors including the digital economy, defence, agriculture and maritime development.
Shettima stated this on Thursday while receiving Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs, Krzysztof Gawkowski, during a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The Vice President said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has introduced major economic reforms aimed at positioning Nigeria as an attractive destination for investment and business partnerships.
According to him, the Tinubu administration has liberalised the foreign exchange market, removed fuel subsidy and harmonised tax laws to create a more business-friendly environment for investors.
“Since assumption of office over two years ago, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has unlocked the full potentials of the Nigerian economy,” Shettima said.

He noted that Poland has demonstrated strong comparative advantage in areas such as ship-building, defence industries, maritime economy and digital technology, stressing that both countries stand to benefit from stronger bilateral cooperation.
“There is room for enhanced mutually beneficial business relations between Nigeria and Poland. We believe in a truly beneficial relationship rather than reliance on any country for aid,” the Vice President added.
Earlier, Gawkowski described Nigeria as Poland’s most strategic partner in Africa, citing the country’s demographic strength and growing technological potential.
