The Nigerian government has reinforced its commitment to counter-terrorism efforts in West Africa and across the African continent by supporting the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Centre (IMCTC), headquartered in Saudi Arabia.
At a recent meeting in Abuja, Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, assured a visiting delegation from the IMCTC, led by Major General Mohammed bin Saleem Al-Moghidi, of Nigeria’s readiness to collaborate on regional anti-terrorism initiatives.
“We are ready and willing to work with you hand in hand to achieve the set objectives,” Badaru stated, adding that terrorism continues to destabilize Africa, particularly West Africa, and collective action is urgently needed.
Badaru emphasized Nigeria’s dedication to both regional and global security, affirming that the country’s support for the IMCTC aligns with its broader mission to address terrorism and foster peace in the region.
Major General Al-Moghidi praised the strong ties between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, outlining the purpose of the visit as a means to deepen cooperation in intelligence sharing and training. He emphasized that these collaborative efforts aim to strengthen security across both nations and within the region.
