Nigeria showcases investment potential at UK conference, seeks partnerships

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, has urged global investors to explore the country’s vast investment opportunities, positioning Nigeria as a key destination for sustainable growth in Africa.

Speaking at the 2025 Milken Institute Global Conference in New York, USA, Dr. Uzoka-Anite highlighted the country’s evolving economic landscape and commitment to reforms aimed at attracting long-term investment.

“Nigeria is not simply seeking aid or short-term capital, but strategic collaborations that recognize the continent’s potential as the next frontier for sustainable growth and innovation,” she said.

The Minister emphasized Nigeria’s leadership in advancing intra-African trade through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), noting that the agreement’s phased implementation would reduce tariffs on 90% of goods traded within Africa. This, she explained, would not only boost regional trade but also unlock value chains across sectors.

“Nigeria is deepening intra-African trade and investment through AfCFTA, which positions us for high-potential investment opportunities in agriculture, energy, the digital economy, manufacturing, infrastructure, mining, and healthcare,” Uzoka-Anite added.

She also spotlighted Nigeria’s dynamic startup ecosystem, identifying growth areas in fintech, agritech, edtech, logistics, and health. The government, she said, is supporting these sectors through regulatory reforms, talent development, and catalytic funding.

To further attract investors, the minister outlined ongoing efforts to streamline the investment climate, improve infrastructure, and enhance trade efficiency.

Her remarks reinforced Nigeria’s ambition to become a hub for innovation and sustainable development in Africa, making a strong case for global investors to consider long-term partnerships in the country.

The Milken Institute Global Conference is a high-profile gathering of world leaders, investors, and innovators, aimed at addressing global economic challenges and opportunities.
