Nigeria strengthens security ties with France, UK on cybercrime, counterterrorism

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reinforced Nigeria’s commitment to international security cooperation through high-level meetings with delegations from France and the United Kingdom at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The IGP recently hosted a French delegation led by Lieutenant General Régis Colcombet, the Director of Defence and Security Cooperation, alongside senior officials from the French Embassy.
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in areas such as cybercrime investigation, counterterrorism, training, equipment acquisition, and technological advancements in policing.

In a separate engagement, the Nigeria Police Force welcomed a UK-Nigeria Cyber Security Delegation, represented by AIG Department of Operations (DOPs), AIG Taiwo Adeleke, and other senior officers.
The delegation included Mark Smith, Country Director of the Department of Business and Training at the British High Commission, and Dan Edmund, CEO of Espranaro Limited.
The discussions aimed at enhancing cybersecurity cooperation, raising awareness on emerging cyber threats, and fostering stronger ties between the UK and Nigeria’s cybersecurity communities.
