Nigeria will be gunning for victory at the 8th African Nations Championship holding next month in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has assured.

As the home based Super Eagles await their group foes, which will emerge next Wednesday, the NFF boss hinted that winning the trophy, remains the ultimate target of the team.

Nigeria is returning to the tournament, after missing out of the last two editions, and Gusau opined that the best way to mark a return was to emerge champions.

“Our aim is to become the champions of the CHAN as we are returning after a long absence, and I can assure that God willing, we shall get it done”,

The NFF supremo based his optimism on the readiness of the players to do the job as well as the well laid down plans by the football ruling body to prepare the team for the tournament.

“During the two-legged qualifiers against Ghana, you can see the potentials and the determination displayed by the boys. That tells you how much they are eager to emerge the champions at the tournament proper.

“In addition, we have mapped out plans to prepare the team for the task, which includes adequate camping in Nigeria and outside Nigeria, in addition to packaging high quality friendly matches for the team”, hinted Gusau, who added that the team will be camped in a place devoid of distractions.

The 8th edition of the CHAN will hold between February 1 and February 28.
