The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said Nigeria will use the upcoming France-Nigeria Business Forum in Paris to showcase the country’s economic progress under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He stated this in Abuja while receiving the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier, who formally invited him to the forum.

Idris emphasized that Tinubu’s reforms are yielding results, citing declining food prices and a stabilizing naira as key indicators. He said 2025 is dedicated to economic and social consolidation, with the government committed to ensuring sustained growth.

“Food prices, which were previously high, are beginning to decline. The exchange rate is showing signs of stability, and all of Mr. President’s reform initiatives are gaining traction. By God’s grace, we will achieve our objectives,” he said.

He acknowledged that reforms often come with challenges but noted that Tinubu’s decisive leadership has shortened the adjustment period, paving the way for economic recovery. He also described France as a key ally and called for its support in strengthening economic and bilateral ties.

The minister praised French President Emmanuel Macron for granting Tinubu a state visit in November 2024, describing it as a rare honor. He assured Ambassador Fonbaustier that Nigeria remains committed to implementing all agreements signed during the visit.

Fonbaustier, in his remarks, said his visit was aimed at developing a roadmap for implementing agreements reached between Presidents Macron and Tinubu. He also pledged France’s support in enhancing Nigeria’s public communication capabilities.

“We must ensure a practical follow-up on President Tinubu’s visit to Paris. The two presidents have laid out an ambitious roadmap to scale up the partnership, and communication will play a crucial role,” he said.

The ambassador described Idris as a key figure in Nigeria’s public communication sector and noted that he is well-positioned to promote Nigeria’s economic potential to French business leaders attending the forum in Paris on April 10, 2025.
