Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday called on local and international investors to take advantage of the vast opportunities in Lagos, assuring them that the state remains willing and ready to partner with credible investors.
He pledged his administration’s continued commitment to providing critical infrastructure, as well as a safe and secure environment conducive to business growth.
Sanwo-Olu made the remarks at the Nigeria-UAE Investment Forum, tagged “Investopia Global Africa,” hosted by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to the governor, his administration has, over the past six and a half years, delivered key infrastructure projects across multiple sectors and is prepared to deepen partnerships that will drive further economic expansion.
“Lagos is positioning itself to lead the Nigerian economic conversation, with tremendous support from the Federal Government. At the end of the day, most investments land at the sub-national level,” he said.
He assured investors that bureaucratic bottlenecks are being dismantled to create a more business-friendly climate. “Lagos is a willing and ready partner. Whatever red tape exists, we are removing it. We want businesses to thrive independently in a secure and enabling environment,” he added.
Highlighting ongoing and planned projects, Sanwo-Olu referenced the state’s investment in the Lekki Deep Sea Port, the largest in the country as well as the proposed Badagry Port. He also disclosed plans, in collaboration with the Federal Government, to build another international airport and develop what he described as the largest logistics hub to support agribusiness and market integration.
The governor further underscored the importance of the Lagos International Financial Centre (LIFC), a joint initiative between the Lagos State Government and EnterpriseNGR, aimed at strengthening both the state and national economy.
He noted that significant progress has been made since the project commenced in 2023, with its unveiling expected within the next year, saying “The LIFC is designed to be a globally competitive, resilient financial hub that reflects both African and Nigerian realities”.
