Nigeria undergoing quiet but bold transformation – VP Shettima

By Kunle Sanni –
Vice President Kashim Shettima says Nigeria is experiencing a “quiet but bold transformation” under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with significant reforms taking root across multiple sectors.
Speaking at the Nigeria–Brazil Business Forum in Abuja on Wednesday, the Vice President emphasized the administration’s drive to rebuild institutions, refocus policies, and expand market opportunities as part of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria is undergoing a quiet but resolute transformation. Markets are being opened. Institutions are being rebuilt. Policies are being refocused,” Shettima stated.
The forum, themed “Roots to Revenue: The Nigeria–Brazil Corridor,” was held as part of the ongoing Nigeria–Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM). It brought together top government officials and business leaders to revitalize bilateral cooperation in agriculture, clean energy, infrastructure, trade, and industry.

Senator Shettima noted that Brazil’s own success story in agriculture, clean energy, and industrial growth serves as a model for Nigeria’s development aspirations. He welcomed Brazil’s commitment to deepening ties, not through aid, but via mutually beneficial investments and innovations.
“Our Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones are taking form. Our farmers are ready to operate at scale. But we know the difference between going alone and going far. Brazil can stand with us in this effort — not as a donor, but as a partner,” he added.
On human capital, the Vice President praised Brazil’s interest in skills development and institutional collaboration, aligning it with Nigeria’s goal of preparing its youthful population for future opportunities.

In his remarks, Brazil’s Vice President Geraldo Alckmin reaffirmed his country’s readiness to elevate its relationship with Nigeria. He described the current moment as “one of the most promising in the history of Nigeria–Brazil relations.”
