Nigeria Weightlifting Federation releases timetable for 2025 Electoral Congress

The Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF) has released the official timetable for its 2025 Electoral Congress, signalling the commencement of the process to elect new Executive Committee members.
According to a statement signed by the NWF Secretary-General, Melvina Apeh, nomination forms for aspiring candidates will be available from Thursday, July 3 to Wednesday, July 9, 2025. The Electoral Committee is expected to submit the list of aspirants to the NWF Board for ratification on Saturday, July 20.
In addition, the submission of representatives from the Nigeria Association for Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (NAPHER-SD), the Nigeria Association of Women in Sports (NAWIS), and other institutions will take place on Friday, August 1.
The Electoral Congress is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 9, 2025, where successful candidates will be elected into leadership roles within the Federation.
The last Electoral Congress was held on September 30, 2021, which produced the current NWF Board led by Dr. Ibrahim Abdul Aladi.
Dr. Aladi’s tenure, now approaching four years, has been widely praised for its transformative leadership and significant strides in advancing the sport of weightlifting in Nigeria.
