The Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Grassroots Sports Development, Adeyinka Adeboye, has assured Nigerians that 2025 will be a year of greater achievements for the country’s sports sector.

In his New Year message, Adeboye expressed confidence that Nigeria will build on its achievements in 2024 by investing more in upcoming and budding grassroots talents who will represent the nation at regional, continental, and international competitions in the near future.

Despite the mixed fortunes that trailed the sports sector last year, Adeboye noted that Nigeria ended 2024 on a high note.

Highlights included the Super Eagles and Atalanta of Italy forward, Ademola Lookman, being crowned the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year, Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie winning the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, the Super Falcons being named CAF Women’s National Team of the Year, and the Super Eagles B team securing a ticket to the African Nations Championship (CHAN) set to take place in February 2025.
