Nigerian Army destroys terrorist camp near Bichi Hill in Katsina

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have destroyed several terrorist camps around Bichi Hill in the Danmusa Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State.

The operation followed credible intelligence reports revealing active terrorist activities in the area, which had resulted in attacks on communities in Danmusa, Safana, and Kankara LGAs on December 19, 2024.

In a statement, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation Fansan Yamma, detailed the combined ground and air offensive aimed at dismantling the terrorists’ strongholds and restoring peace to the affected communities.

The operation commenced with precision airstrikes by the Air Component, targeting identified terrorist locations in multiple successful passes.

Following the strikes, some surviving terrorists attempted to regroup near Bichi Hill, leading to a prolonged firefight with ground troops.

According to the statement, “The engagement lasted for several hours, but the terrorists were ultimately overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower. To further prevent their escape, the Air Component platforms tracked fleeing terrorists on motorcycles and conducted additional successful strikes.”

Reports from local sources indicate that the operations inflicted significant casualties on the terrorists, including the reportedly fatal injuries of notorious kingpins Manore and Dogo Nahalle.

In addition to neutralising the terrorists, the operation dismantled several camps within the high ground, effectively crippling their operational capabilities.

Before these military efforts, communities surrounding Maidabino, Yantumaki, Mara, and other parts of Danmusa and Safana LGAs had endured persistent threats from terrorists, resulting in mass displacements and widespread fear among local residents.
