Nigerian Breweries to spend N56bn on Ama plant expansion, targets 6m hectolitres per annum

Nigerian Breweries has earmarked N56bn for the expansion of Ama Brewery in Enugu.
The expansion, when completed, would boost the brewing capacity to 4.8 billion hectolitres from an initial capacity of 2.7 billion hectolitres and further increase it to 6 billion hectolitres after the second phase.
Speaking at the commissioning of the expansion project, Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele who was represented by Director, Trade and Exchange, Dr. Ozoemena Nnaji, praised Nigerian Breweries for the massive project.
He said that the CBN would continue to come up with policies that would improve the non-oil sectors of the economy as a means of cushioning the impact of the global shock on the Nigerian economy.
Emefiele also assured that company that the CBN was committed to more collaborations with them to achieve this goal.
Also speaking, Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwanyi, represented by Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Simon Ortuanya, said when completed, the project would enhance the industrial growth of Enugu and Nigeria while improving the company’s market share.
Heineken Chief Executive Officer, Dolf van den Brink said the longstanding relationship between Heineken and Nigeria dating back to 1946 was the spur behind the investment.
