Nigerian citizen seeks asylum in Canada due to threats on life

Fagboola Seye Johnson, a Nigerian citizen, has recently sought asylum in Canada due to threats to his life in Nigeria. Mr. Johnson, born on January 29, 1975, is a native of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, and resided at No. 13, Olaleye Street, Somolu, Lagos State, Nigeria.

In a statement, by our correspondent, Mr. Johnson was confirmed to be a  Nigerian citizens and fluent in both Yoruba and English languages respectively. His International  Passport, with number, B00750954, was evident and confirmed he’s a law-abiding citizen throughout his time in Nigeria.

Our reporter, also affirmed that Mr. Johnson studied Agricultural Science at Lagos State University, Ojo from September, 2000 to June, 2004. Following his studies, he completed his compulsory National Youth Service Corp at the Ministry of Agriculture in Kwara State, Nigeria, from June, 2005 to June, 2006.

Information had it that Mr.  Johnson delved into farming, investing his inheritance from his parents, and became the CEO of Success Link Poultry and Farm in Lagos, Nigeria. However, following an incident involving a member of the Eiye Confraternity, also known as the Airlords, Mr. Johnson’s life took a dangerous turn.

On the afternoon of Saturday, March 12, 2022, our correspondent gathered that Mr. Johnson and his friend, Abayomi Adelaja, found themselves involved in an argument with Eiye Bouncing, a prominent member of the Airlords, during an inter-street football match in Somolu, Lagos State. The argument escalated into a fight, during which Eiye Bouncing fatally stabbed Mr. Johnson’s friend with a broken bottle to death.

Following the incident, Mr. Johnson was threatened by the Airlords, and he also became a victim of a physical attack in May, 2022. The constant threats and harassment made Mr. Johnson fear for his life and the safety of his wife and children. He was forced to separate from his family, with his wife and children seeking refuge with her parents.

The situation took a turn for the worse when Johnson started experiencing continuous harassment and threats from unidentified individuals. Despite reporting the incident to the local police, no arrests were made. Determined to seek justice, Johnson and his friends sought the assistance of community elder Chief Agunbiade S.O and reported the incident to the King of Somolu (the traditional Monarch), who promised to collaborate with the police in bringing the culprits to justice.

His business started having issues when he could not actively involved in its day-to-day running, the fortune of the company started dwindling and nosed driven which later dealt a fatal blow culminating in downward trends in growth but had to manage to feed himself and his family of four, his wife,  Mrs Fagboola Oluwatosin Mary, a trader and his two children, Faruq Opeyemi Fagboola and Malik Olarenwaju Fagboola.

Mr. Johnson attempted to find safety by relocating to different states in Nigeria but realized he was still being trailed to terminate his life by the unknown assailants, recounted by our correspondent.
