Nigerian government to concession 4000 kilometres of federal road network – Wale Edun

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has disclosed that the Federal Government is concluding plans to concession 4000 kilometres of Federal road network across the country.

Edun made this known on Wednesday in Washington on the sidelines of the ongoing Spring Meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.

The Minister spoke alongside Central Bank Governor, Olayemi Cardoso at an investment forum organised by Chapel Hill Denham and JPMorgan at Willard Intercontinental Hotel.

Edun noted that the government has already handed over 1000 kilometres of concessioned road to private sector players to relieve the government of funding roads from the budget.

Speaking further at the well-attended event by existing and prospective investors in Nigeria, Edun said that concessioning the roads is part of the Federal Government strategy of managing revenue shortfalls and fiscal risks that may come out of global economic uncertainty occasioned by the ongoing tariff war between the United States and other countries in the world, especially China, which is the second-largest economy, and the fall in the price of crude oil.
