Nigeria’s economy stabilising as reforms strengthen, says finance minister

By Kunle Sanni –

Nigeria’s economy is stabilising as the federal government undertakes bold reforms to strengthen the business environment and attract greater private investment, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has said.

Edun made this known while addressing global investors and South African business leaders at the G20 Investment Dialogue in Johannesburg.

In a post on the X platform, the Ministry of Finance highlighted Edun’s message on Nigeria’s reform-driven economic direction.

He noted that recent government measures are restoring macroeconomic stability and positioning the country for sustained, private-sector-led growth.

Key indicators, he said, point to improving momentum: GDP expanded by 4.23% in Q2 2025, inflation is moderating, and external reserves have risen to $46.3 billion. Growth is also broadening across sectors, including telecommunications, trade, construction, rail, electricity, and refining.

“Nigeria is not only open for business; Nigeria is reforming to accelerate private-sector-led growth,” Edun stated.
