NITDA sets up management-union committee to address staff welfare concerns

The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, has inaugurated a Joint Management-Union Committee to address issues affecting staff welfare, training, productivity and workplace conditions.

Inuwa said the committee was established to ensure staff concerns were addressed through structured consultation rather than on an ad hoc basis.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of NITDA’s Human Resources Sensitisation Week 2026, the DG stressed the need for management to focus on unlocking employees’ potential rather than merely enforcing rules and procedures.

He said the committee would address broader staff welfare issues beyond training and urged its members to commence work immediately.

The initiative followed concerns raised by staff over the allocation of training opportunities, working tools and interventions during medical emergencies and accidents.

Inuwa said the Agency had expanded training opportunities, including international programmes, and was providing digital tools to enable staff to perform effectively.

He, however, urged employees to reciprocate improved welfare with greater commitment, productivity and punctuality, stressing that staff development must translate into better performance.

The committee comprises representatives from management, including the Directors of Finance and Human Resources, the DG’s representative and auditors, while the union will nominate four representatives.
