NLC discontinues street protests

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has suspended its street action for the second day of its nationwide protest.

It reached the decision after  an emergency National Executive Council meeting.

Reviewing the first day of the protest, the NLC concluded that the protest was successful as it achieved its key objectives.

But its NEC has now resolved to discontinue the street protest on 28 February and focus on simultaneous Press Conferences across all the states of the federation.

It also extended the 7-day ultimatum to the Government by another 7 days.

Labour said it now expects the Government to implement all the 2nd October 2023 agreements and other demands presented to the National Assembly during Tuesday’s nationwide protest before the 13th March 2024 when the ultimatum expires.
