NLC protest: Ogun police warn hoodlums, promise adequate security

Ogun State police command has assured of adequate security during the planned protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in solidarity with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The command said the safety of the public is guaranteed before, during and after the said protest slated for Tuesday 26th of July 2022.

“In as much as protest is one of the inalienable rights of the citizens, the command wishes to appeal to NLC and other affiliated groups who might want to participate in the said protest to be civil and peaceful in order not to violate the rights of others. 

“The command hereby appeals to the general public to go about their lawful businesses without fear of intimidation or harassment, as police and other security agencies will be fully on ground to monitor the situation so as to prevent hoodlums from hijacking the process. 

“Parents and guardians are also advised to warn their wards who may want to use the opportunity to foment trouble to have a rethink or face the consequences,” the command said in a statement.
