Nnamdi Azikiwe University expels student over lecturer assault

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has expelled a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, from the Faculty of Arts over allegations of gross misconduct and assault on a lecturer.

The expulsion, effective immediately, follows the findings and recommendations of the university’s Student Disciplinary Committee.

The committee investigated the assault case involving a lecturer from the Department of Theater and Film Studies and determined it to be a violation of the university’s Students Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR).

Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university approved the committee’s recommendations, citing a zero-tolerance policy for student misconduct.

The expelled student, identified with Registration Number 2022044114 from the Department of History and International Studies, has been directed to vacate university premises immediately and return any university property in their possession.

The notice was issued by Acting Registrar Mr. Victor I. Modebelu and circulated to key university offices, including the Dean of Student Affairs, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, the university’s Head of Information and Public Relations, and the Chief Safety Officer.
