Nnamdi Kanu’s terrorism trial begins today

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), will go on trial today at the Federal High Court in Abuja on terrorism-related charges.
To prevent any threats to law and order, agents of the Department of State Services (DSS) have taken over the security of the court’s property and the highways leading there.
The Supreme Court had in December 2023 okayed Kanu’s trial by setting aside a judgment by the lower court that dismissed the terrorism charges against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.
