NNPC records 37% surge in crude sales, posts N481bn profit in April
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited recorded a 36.9 per cent increase in crude oil and condensate sales in April 2026, while profit after tax rose to N481 billion during the same period.
According to the company’s latest monthly operational report, crude oil and condensate sales climbed to 23.65 million barrels in April from 17.27 million barrels recorded in March. The increase was supported by higher production, which rose from 1.56 million barrels per day to 1.68 million barrels per day.
NNPC attributed the improved performance largely to better facility uptime across its operations, although production was affected by the delayed restart of the Trans Ramos Pipeline following maintenance work, as well as leaks and integrity challenges on some assets.
While crude sales rose significantly, gas sales declined slightly from 5.05 million standard cubic feet per day in March to 5.04 million standard cubic feet per day in April. Gas production also dipped marginally to 7,730 million standard cubic feet per day from 7,731 million standard cubic feet per day.
The company also reported strong financial performance, with revenue increasing by 79.23 per cent to N4.97 trillion in April.
Profit after tax climbed by 74.28 per cent to N481 billion, while cumulative statutory payments between January and April stood at N3.71 trillion.
NNPC further announced the successful completion of the Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) River Niger Crossing project, describing it as a major milestone in Nigeria’s gas infrastructure development and energy security drive.
The company added that the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project had reached 94 per cent completion, with efforts ongoing to achieve early gas supply to Abuja in 2026. It noted, however, that all production, sales and financial figures remain provisional and subject to reconciliation with relevant stakeholders.
