The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has extended warm congratulations to its candidates in Kano State for their success in the recent local government elections held on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Abdulsalam Abdulrazaq, and shared with Western Post in Ilorin on Sunday, the party praised the dedication of its elected candidates, commending their commitment to grassroots democracy and service to the people of Kano State.
The NNPP also expressed appreciation for the efforts of the state chairman, Barr. Dalhatu Usuman, for leading an inclusive and well-coordinated campaign that culminated in Saturday’s successful election outcome.
Following the victory, the party directed all elected chairmen to report to the state party headquarters to collect their certificates of return, in preparation for their inauguration. This directive aligns with a recent ruling by the Federal High Court in Kano, which recognized Barr. Usuman as the legitimate State Chairman and mandated that only candidates submitted by him be accepted by KANSIEC.
The party extended its gratitude to the people of Kano State for their active participation and commitment to a peaceful electoral process, despite isolated incidents of violence allegedly incited by the Kwankwassiya group. The NNPP lauded the people’s calm and resilience, noting that their conduct reflected Kano’s longstanding tradition of peace and unity.
In addition, the NNPP urged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Kano State government to uphold the rule of law by respecting the Federal High Court’s ruling that validated the candidacy of the Dalhatu Usuman-led NNPP.
The party stressed that honoring this judgment would help prevent unnecessary political tensions and protect the democratic process in Kano State.
“The NNPP remains dedicated to advancing the welfare and progress of Kano State and its people. We will continue to advocate for governance that embodies transparency, accountability, and development,” the statement read.
