NNPP invites Aregbesola to reclaim Osun

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Osun State has called on former Governor Rauf Aregbesola to consider joining their party to reclaim the state.
This invitation follows Aregbesola’s recent announcement of his exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with his supporters in the Omoluabi Progressives.
At the meeting where the decision to leave the APC was made, Aregbesola expressed interest in joining a political party that aligns with his progressive ideology and can help transform Osun into a model state within Nigeria.
The NNPP chairman in the state, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, asserted that the party has demonstrated its capacity to address governance shortcomings in Nigeria, citing the pro-people approach of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as an example.
Odeyemi, while acknowledging Aregbesola’s significant contributions to Osun State, stated that the former governor’s influence in the political landscape remains undeniable. He noted that even Aregbesola’s former party continues to blame him for its failure to retain power in 2022, recognizing the substantial influence he wields in Osun politics.
He said: “Nobody can say Ogbeni Aregbesola is a political liability in Osun. He is an asset, no doubt about that. Even his former political family knows the truth; they are only shying away from it. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been going around blaming him for their downfall in the 2022 gubernatorial election.
“I am using this opportunity to appeal to Aregbesola to consider joining our great party, the NNPP. Osun State is currently in a state of uncertainty, and we need a strong force to reclaim it.
“Having Aregbesola in Osun NNPP will undoubtedly boost the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
“Our vision aligns with his—we all want to see the masses happy and living comfortably. Together, we can achieve this in Osun come 2026, and history will be kind to us all. Therefore, with open arms, I invite Ogbeni Aregbesola and his supporters to join the NNPP for a prosperous Osun.”
