No basis for rivalry between Aiyedatiwa, Minister Tunji-Ojo, law professor counsels supporters

…warns against divisive tendencies
By Boye Oyeyemi –
A professor of law, Olugbenga Oke-Samuel, has warned against attempts to create division between Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (BTO), describing both men as vital assets to the state.
In a post on his official Facebook page, seen by WESTERN POST, Oke-Samuel described efforts to set supporters of the two leaders against each other as “unwarranted”, urging them to work together in the interest of the people.
“The current attempt to create a divide between Governor Aiyedatiwa and the Minister of Interior is unwarranted. It’s important for these key figures to come out clearly to disabuse the minds of their warmongering supporters,” he wrote.
The don praised both leaders, noting that BTO remains “a star and pride to Ondo State,” while Aiyedatiwa “represents a clean break with our political past,” with developmental initiatives that deserve encouragement. He advised the governor to seek quality and selfless aides while removing “clogs” in his administration.
On Tunji-Ojo, the professor urged him to rise above local politics and embrace the role of a statesman.
“For a long time Ondo has not been a major player at the national level. BTO is a first-class minister with exceptional performance; his focus at this stage should be how to position the state and open new frontiers for Ondo people at the national level,” he noted.
He stressed that there was no basis for rivalry, adding that both leaders should take advantage of their positions to consolidate President Bola Tinubu’s mandate and attract development to Ondo. “There must be a synergy between him and Gov. Aiyedatiwa; I do not see any basis for rivalry,” he wrote.
Oke-Samuel appealed to their supporters to end divisive rhetoric and focus on the people’s needs.
“Supporters of these power holders are advised to stop warmongering and rather identify areas of need by the people and guide their principals to channel their energies there. The needs in Ondo are enormous. It’s not a good time to wage war,” he added.
