No crisis in Ondo APC, party chairman assures of free LG Congress

By Temitope Adedeji, Akure

Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said there is no crisis or disagreement between the state Chairman, Mr. Ade Adetimehin and the Southern Senatorial District Chairman, Dr. Deji Oyedele.

The party, in a statement on Thursday in Akure, by its Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaiye, described the claim of crisis in the party as baseless and unfounded.

He emphasized that both men were together, with other members of the State Working Committee (SWC), on Wednesday at the Secretariat, where they were addressed by the Congress Committee from Abuja.

According to the statement, the preoccupation of the SWC, led by Adetimehin, was to ensure credible congress, believing that a rancour free primaries starts therefrom.

“It is pertinent to amplify the fact that the state chairman has no interest whatsoever in who makes the list from any local government area. His position has been that, ‘leaders should provide conducive atmosphere for credible congress in all the 203 wards.’

“The party wishes to alert members that the era of crude blackmailing and gross misinformation is here, and should therefore be ready to discard them as they surface.

“The purported story, without attribution, is clearly the handwork of elements that do not mean well for the cohesion and unity of the party in the state.

“We want to assure the authors and their co-travellers that the state secretariat would not be distracted by their myopic strategies, in its resolve to pursue equity and fairness in the interest of the chapter,” Kalejaiye said.
