No indictment against Oyetola, Oyebamiji in Baro Port probe — AMBO Media

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Fronts has denied reports alleging that Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, were indicted by the House of Representatives over the Baro Inland Port project.

In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Adebayo Adedeji, the group described the claims as false and politically motivated, clarifying that neither official has been accused of wrongdoing by any federal committee regarding the project commissioned in January 2019 under the Buhari administration.

“We dispel the sensational claim that ex-Governor Oyetola and Asiwaju Oyebamiji are being investigated for corruption linked to the Baro port project. No such allegation has been made against them,” the statement said.

The media group noted that while the House Ad-hoc Committee on the Rehabilitation and Operationalisation of the Baro Inland Port has revisited the project and requested clarifications, both Oyetola and Oyebamiji assumed office in 2023 and had no role in the original planning or execution of the project.

The statement added that Oyebamiji appeared before the committee on July 29, where he provided historical context and outlined the current challenges facing the port, including lack of rail and road access. He reportedly appealed for urgent rehabilitation of critical infrastructure to make the port functional.

Lawmakers were said to have commended Oyebamiji’s presentation and leadership, and invited both him and Minister Oyetola to join an inspection tour of the port and its access routes scheduled for next week.

AMBO Media Fronts expressed concern over what it called an attempt by political actors to distort facts and tarnish the image of Oyebamiji, linking the smear campaign to his growing political profile in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The group urged the public to disregard the false reports and focus on the constructive efforts of both officials toward reviving the nation’s inland waterways infrastructure.
