No plans to leave PDP, says Governor Adeleke amid ADC defection rumours

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed rumours of his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor described the defection claim as false and a desperate ploy by political opponents threatened by his growing popularity.
Governor Adeleke emphasized that his focus remains on delivering good governance and the dividends of democracy to the people of Osun, who entrusted him with their mandate nearly three years ago.
He reiterated his dedication to working with PDP leaders across the state to further strengthen the party ahead of the upcoming elections.
“The latest misinformation campaign is an attempt to exploit the governor’s widespread goodwill in order to sway public opinion,” the statement read. “The series of unsolicited endorsements he continues to receive is clearly unsettling to those afraid of the people’s will.”
The governor urged the public to disregard any reports linking him with defection, stressing that such claims are baseless and unfounded.
Supporters and party members were also advised to ignore fake news and instead channel their energy toward mobilizing support for his re-election under the PDP platform.
“As a man of the people, Governor Adeleke recognizes the overwhelming confidence Osun residents have in both his leadership and the PDP. He has no intention of going against the will of the people,” the statement concluded.
