‘No victor, no vanquished’ — Saraki applauds PDP unity after NEC meeting

Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has hailed the outcome of the 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a turning point that averted a looming internal crisis and reaffirmed the party’s unity and resilience.
In a statement released on Monday evening, Saraki said the much-anticipated meeting, held against the backdrop of deepening internal tensions, could have pushed the party further into disarray. Instead, it marked a moment of reconciliation and renewed commitment to collective goals.
“There was no victor, no vanquished. The winner today is the PDP — and another winner is Nigerian democracy,” Saraki said, noting that the PDP’s ability to weather internal storms is essential to maintaining a viable opposition.

Saraki, who chairs the party’s National Reconciliation and Strategy Committee, revealed that although recent disagreements had threatened party cohesion, the NEC meeting was conducted in a spirit of compromise and mutual respect.
“The discussions were frank and, at times, difficult. But the leadership chose dialogue over division and unity over ego,” he said.
He commended party leaders who, according to him, “sacrificed personal positions for the greater good,” crediting them with helping the PDP avoid a potential breakdown.

“We are the only viable alternative capable of providing responsible leadership to this country. Our people are watching, and we must not let them down,” Saraki added.
Addressing concerns about internal sabotage, Saraki dismissed recent claims that some members were working against the party’s interests, describing such reports as “false propaganda.”
