NOA Jigawa chapter calls for peace, charity during Lent, Ramadan

The Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Jigawa State, Mr. Ahmad Ibrahim, has urged Nigerians to embrace peace and charity during the Ramadan and Lent periods.

The director made the call in a statement released on Thursday in Dutse, congratulating Christian and Muslim faithful on the commencement of their respective observances.

He encouraged citizens to use the season for reflection, solidarity, and selfless actions, highlighting the importance of compassion and social responsibility.

Ibrahim noted that, for the first time in many years, the Christian season of Lent and the Muslim holy month of Ramadan began on the same day, describing it as a rare coincidence and a powerful symbol of shared sacrifice.

He called on both Christians and Muslims to view this alignment as a divine invitation to transcend differences and rediscover their shared humanity.

“This shared season of fasting calls for intensified prayers against insecurity and other societal vices confronting our country,” he said.

He added that prayer alone is insufficient and must be accompanied by actions, urging citizens to engage in charity for the vulnerable, forgiveness, and self-discipline as advocated by both faiths.

Ibrahim concluded by hoping the season would inspire deep spiritual engagement, accepted sacrifices, and a lasting era of peace and unity across Nigeria.
