NOA seeks collaboration with police to promote patriotism

The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has paid an advocacy visit to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, emphasising the need for collaboration to promote national unity, patriotism, and enforcement of laws regarding safe passage on the roads.

The Agency made this known in a post on its official X handle on Thursday.

Issa-Onilu highlighted the agency’s mandate to mobilize citizens, stressing that national cohesion cannot be achieved without the active involvement of the police.

He revealed that the Federal Executive Council approved the National Identity Project in 2024, adding that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu set to unveil the National Values Charter in early 2025.

He noted that the charter would serve as a mutual agreement between the government and citizens, defining Nigerian identity and national values.

The NOA DG called on the police to be role models in upholding these values to inspire public trust and patriotism.

In response, IGP Kayode Egbetokun expressed appreciation for NOA’s efforts, affirming the police’s readiness to collaborate in promoting national values.

Present at the meeting were NOA management officials and senior police officers.
