Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye cries out over movie piracy

Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye has cried out over the alleged piracy of her movie by a man identified as Emmanuel Davis, vowing to litigate similar piracy issues.

Bimbo took to her Instagram page to vent her anger, adding that the situation had affected her mentally, physically and financially, especially after what she described as a very stressful week, having been demonetised over her recent movie, Where Love Lives.

The filmmaker explained that she hired the services of musician Ugoccie to produce the score for her latest YouTube movie, Where Love Lives, and did not upload it anywhere else online to avoid monetisation issues. However, she expressed shock over discovering that the movie’s score was available on other YouTube channels, allegedly uploaded by Emmanuel without authorisation, claiming her copyright and eventually leading to the demonetisation of her original content.

She said, “I give you one hour ultimatum before I put a bounty on your head. If I put a bounty on your head, it’s done for you. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. I woke up to demonetisation on our movie, Where Love Lives. A song I have full ownership of, a track I fully own, with full approval from the artiste, was lifted and claimed by one Emmanuel Davies.

“Not only did he steal my song, he claimed copyright and took monetisation, which means my money from the movie belongs to him. I pay for all the soundtracks I use in my movie.”

The actress also called out an alleged similar offender, Anwuli, affirming her determination to litigate the issue.

In her words, “Anwuli, you did this same thing to my movie, To Be a Friend. Information reaching me is that you want to settle out of court. Darling, you started it by making me lose a movie at six million views. I want to finish it with final words from a judge. Please get ready.”

Bimbo’s movie, Where Love Lives, was released in 2025 and went viral, earning her over 10 million views. Confirming her allegations, Ugoccie, the score producer, also congratulated her via Instagram for earning 10 million views from the movie.

Bimbo Ademoye is a seasoned actress and producer known for her versatile roles in Nollywood, featuring in many blockbuster movies including Anikulapo, Jagun Jagun and others. She won Best Actress in a Comedy/TV Series (2023) for Selina and Best Supporting Actress at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) in 2018 and 2020 respectively.
