Veteran Nollywood stars and couple, Norbert and Gloria Young, have opened up about their seven-year struggle with childlessness.
The couple shared their experience in an interview on Love Notes With Tope.
During the interview, Gloria reflected on the challenges they faced as a young couple, saying the experience was more of a personal struggle because Norbert remained calm and often reassured her.
The star actress explained that she felt the weight of the situation more deeply due to external pressures and personal anxieties.
She surprised the audience when she revealed that while they were childless, Norbert’s family never questioned them about having children, whereas her own family frequently brought it up.
“I was childless for seven years. However, it was more of a challenge for me than for him,” she said.
“He kept asking me why I was worried, but I was the one feeling it more and noticing things. However, nobody in his family ever asked about it, but my family did.”
On his part, Norbert said he was not bothered by the situation because he had a sister who also experienced 16 years of childlessness.
“I didn’t see it as a challenge. I had a sister who was married for 16 years without a child, and in the 17th year, she had one.
“Her husband never told her to leave, and today, that child is a medical doctor. Childlessness never threatened our union.”
Norbert and Gloria got married in April 2002, and their union is blessed with a daughter.
