Not only President Tinubu; anyone can miss his step – Shehu Sani

A former Nigerian lawmaker and human rights activist, Senator Shehu Sani, Wednesday, dismissed those making a fuss over the incident involving President Bola Tinubu during the Democracy Day celebration at Eagle Square, Abuja.

Sani was reacting to videos circulating on social media showing President Tinubu momentarily losing his footing as he stepped into the parade vehicle.

Taking to his X handle, Senator Sani wrote, “Not Just President Tinubu, anyone alive can trip and fall; it happened to President Biden and Fidel Castro. Presidents are human beings and mortals.”

The President immediately regained his composure and continued with the proceedings without any additional problems despite the occurrence.

The Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun also reacted to the President’s slip at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration in Abuja.

Posting on his X handle, Olusegun stated, “Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.”

The June 12 Democracy Day celebration was organised in honour of all those who contributed to the enthronement of democracy in the country, including the late MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election.
